March is National Nutrition Month®

Diet and exercise: words we know, sometimes more easily spoken than accomplished.

Sometimes it helps just to get a better understanding of our individual needs. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has adopted MyPyramid, which is a major departure from an outmoded 1992 model that actually may have accelerated America's obesity rates.

For my own age, size and exercise pattern, that means roughly a 2600 calorie daily intake, including 4.5 ounces of whole grains, 3.5 cups of vegetables, 2 cups of fruit and 6.5 ounces of protein. Click on the above link to find out your recommended approach!

Children can also participate in this initiative: CLICK HERE FOR INFORMATION.

For more information, see this link: National Nutrition Month. "National Nutrition Month®" is a federally registered service mark of the American Dietetic Association.
